Greece plans roam on Vodafone Greece and Wind. Cosmote, which has the strongest coverage in the country and specifically the best reach across the islands, is not included.

Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras have solid 5G on Vodafone and coverage across mainland Greece is generally good. The large, populated islands — Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos — are well served in their towns and resort areas.

The gap opens on the smaller Cyclades and Dodecanese, in the mountainous interiors of the larger islands, and on the more remote parts of the Peloponnese. Cosmote's island advantage is real, and on a small-island itinerary you may find coverage where a Cosmote user has more.

Greek island travel means ferries, and ferry crossings are where coverage reliably disappears. Longer routes through open water — Piraeus to the Cyclades, inter-island hops in the Dodecanese — can leave you without service for hours.

This matters more than it sounds because ferry schedules change, and the moment you most want to check a connection or message an accommodation is often mid-crossing.

Greece runs light on data. Island towns are walkable, beach days involve very little phone use, and hotel and taverna Wi-Fi is widely available and generally reliable.

A week island-hopping with messaging, maps and photo uploads sits comfortably at 3 GB. Two weeks across several islands is a 5 GB trip.

Where it climbs is photo and video sharing — Greece generates a great deal of both — and driving the mainland or the larger islands, where live navigation runs for hours on winding roads.

Greece follows EU roaming rules and requires no registration or documentation for a data eSIM. Install the profile before you fly while on home Wi-Fi.

This is a Greece plan and does not extend to Turkey, Albania, North Macedonia or Bulgaria. The Turkish coast is visible from several Greek islands and a day trip across is common — that crossing leaves your coverage.
