Longer leisure trips and multi-country routes, particularly if your Swisscom option is charged per day. A regional plan covering 35 countries at a fixed price removes both the daily accumulation and the per-country verification.

Worth noting for Swiss travellers specifically: a Europe regional plan generally does not cover Switzerland itself, precisely because Switzerland is outside the EU. If your itinerary starts and ends at home that is irrelevant, but if you want data on both sides of the border you need to account for it.
