Most UK roaming comparisons focus on whether roaming is included and at what data cap. With Three the more common failure mode is geographic: a country you assumed was covered no longer is, or is covered only on certain plans.

The countries most likely to catch you out

Trips that stay inside the core EU are usually fine. The gaps appear at the edges: Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, and the western Balkans — Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia. These are frequently outside standard European zones despite being firmly in Europe geographically.

Island and territory destinations are the other common surprise. Some Mediterranean and Atlantic territories fall outside the zone their parent country sits in.
